Tidewater Arena
17,800 seats · Men's Basketball
Downtown arena. Not owned by Rockbeach - they set the fees and the parking. Two configurations: 17,800 for basketball, 14,900 for Tempest hockey.
The configurations
One building, more than one manifest. A seat count quoted for this venue has to say which configuration it is.
| Configuration | Capacity |
|---|---|
| Hockey | 14,900 |
| Basketball | 17,800 |
Tidewater Arena is not a Rockbeach building. We set the seat prices and assign our own allocation on priority points. The fee per order, the parking, the bag policy, re-entry and every suite in the building belong to the arena.

We rent five dates a year and name nothing
TIDEWATER ARENA: WHAT WE SELL AND WHAT WE DO NOT. Rockbeach plays 5 of its 16 men's basketball home dates at Tidewater Arena in Tidewater, seventeen miles from campus, under a three-year agreement. The other 11 stay at The Beacon. THE DOWNTOWN DATES ARE NOT IN THE SEASON TICKET. Rockbeach sells seasons early, before it knows how many dates go downtown, so every game at Tidewater Arena is an add-on at full price. Season ticket holders and donors get 10% off in a presale; then the normal on-sale opens to everyone. Tidewater Arena seats 17,800 across multiple levels and it is a genuinely beautiful building. That is the whole commercial logic: the biggest dates of the season sell The Beacon out in an hour and leave money on the floor. Downtown holds nearly twice as many. The building has two configurations: 17,800 for basketball, which is what Rockbeach sells, and 14,900 for hockey, which is what the Tempest play in. A seat count quoted downtown should be the basketball number. ROCKBEACH SCALES THIS BUILDING. We set the seat prices, we tier the dates, and we assign within our allocation on priority points. THE ONE THING WE CANNOT SELL IS A SUITE. Rockbeach has exactly one at Tidewater Arena, the President's, and it is not for sale at any price to anybody. Every other suite in the building belongs to the arena and the fan calls them direct. A donor with four hundred points cannot buy a suite here, and the reason is the lease, not their giving. THE PRICE GRID, five downtown dates, each sold on its own and tiered on rivalry, day and draw: Tier I - Premium is Alexandria on a Saturday, then Tier II, Tier III and Tier IV. The tiers are a pricing distinction and are never named to fans. Courtside (Rows AA-C, 120 seats) — one game: tier I $510, tier II $375, tier III $240, tier IV $190. Lower Sideline (104-107, 116-119, 1,800 seats) — one game: tier I $195, tier II $145, tier III $90, tier IV $70. Lower Corner (101-102, 109-110, 113-114, 121-122, 1,600 seats) — one game: tier I $135, tier II $100, tier III $65, tier IV $49. Mezzanine Sideline (204-207, 216-219, 2,200 seats) — one game: tier I $100, tier II $75, tier III $48, tier IV $38. Mezzanine Corner and End (201-203, 208-209, 211-215, 220-224, 2,980 seats) — one game: tier I $67, tier II $50, tier III $32, tier IV $25. Lower End (111-112, 123-124, 1,400 seats) — one game: tier I $80, tier II $60, tier III $39, tier IV $30. Upper Sideline (304-307, 316-319, 2,900 seats) — one game: tier I $55, tier II $41, tier III $26, tier IV $20. Upper Corner and End (301-303, 308-315, 320-324, 4,200 seats) — one game: tier I $37, tier II $27, tier III $17, tier IV $14. Concourse Rail (Standing, two areas, 300 seats) — one game: tier I $27, tier II $20, tier III $13, tier IV $10. Student allocation is 300 seats in section 210, free. The campus student allocation is far larger, and students who arrive downtown expecting the same experience get turned away. GROUP RATE is 20% off the single price and is WITHHELD on tier I and tier II. Those two sell themselves and discounting them gives away the only inventory that never needed help. WHAT THE ARENA SETS AND WE DO NOT. A $15 fee per order - flat, once, whatever the order size, and we can neither change nor waive it. Parking at $50 a car, with NO DONOR TIERS: Tidewater Arena does not do priority parking and will not let Rockbeach impose it, so a Beacon Society member parks on the same terms as a student's father. Bag policy, re-entry and concessions are theirs and they revise them. The Tempest have date priority, so downtown dates and tip-offs can move on thirty days notice.
