The future is now. With our great partners, we are building the new standard for venues on the most beautiful and storied beach in the world. Sure, we're surrounded by pro sports, but this is the crown jewel. We have something they will never have.

What to expect

Four dates run the whole thing

Nobody has a seat in the new building yet — not a twenty-year holder, not a trustee. You hold a place in line, and when selection opens you choose in the order your priority points put you.

NowDeposits open

$250 a seat holds your place in the selection order and comes off your first-year price. A deposit is not a seat. You can put down a deposit for each football season seat you hold now, and never fewer than two. Suites and loges: no limit on deposits, and a deposit is never a guarantee of a space.

31 Dec 2027Donations lock

Priority points are counted as of this date. Gifts after it still help the program, but do not move anyone for selection.

1 Mar 2028Selection opens

Highest priority first. Deposit holders choose before the public on-sale.

Aug 2028Doors open

A concert opens the building (date to be announced); the first home game is 9 September against Alexandria. Lot D, beside the building, becomes the closest parking there is.

Why 5,100 fewer seats than The Rock

The New Rockbeach Stadium seats 26,400, which is 5,100 fewer than Jacobsen Stadium's 31,500. That is where stadium design is going: build for demand and for premium. Fewer general seats, far more suites, loges, clubs and the Rockbeach Lounge, and a bowl sized to sell out every game rather than to sit a quarter empty in November.

Fewer seats and more demand is exactly why your place in line matters. Priority points decide who picks first: philanthropic gifts earn ten points per $100, seat-related giving one per $100, and every season you hold tickets earns two per sport. How priority points work.

Two boards, and the ocean stays open

The board in the bowl sits across the top of the tall south end stand, roughly 210 feet wide and up to about 60 feet tall at its crest, so the ocean, the lava rocks and the lighthouse at the open north end stay clear from every seat. It is not a rectangle: its top edge is a breaking wave, low at the east end and curling up at the west, tucked under the glass ribs of the west roof. The second board is separate and larger still: it stands on its own, low over the entry plaza at the south gates. On game day the plaza in front of it is a free fan zone for anyone who did not get in; the rest of the year it carries movie nights, trade shows and events, so the building is in use all year. Inside, fuchsia LED ribbon boards run around the bowl, and an LED strip runs the length of the field-level wall, so the stats are in front of you even while you watch the field. The building is made for being there in person.

Didn’t get in? The game is still on.

The biggest screen on the campus is not inside the bowl. It stands on its own, low over the entry plaza at the south gates, and on game day the plaza and lawn in front of it are a free fan zone: bring the grill and the chairs and watch with everybody who could not get a seat. No ticket, no charge.

The rest of the year it is how the building earns its keep: movie nights on the lawn, trade shows and events on the plaza. A stadium in use 365 days a year, not just on football Saturdays.

Six blocks underground

Retail shops, a movie theater, bowling lanes and everything else a town and a student body could ask for, running six city blocks, with exits that come up on the boardwalk among its small cafes, shops and nightlife. It is part of the public/private partnership President Schwenk envisioned: the board believes that if the university is the center of the area, it becomes a vibrant and exciting place to be. It gives students more places to work and brings tax revenue to the town.

Built for concerts

The lava-rock setting gives every show a backdrop no arena has, and an innovative stereo surround-sound system is built into the bowl. The building opens with a concert in August 2028; the date and the act are still to be announced.

  • The model and the views. A detailed 3-D model of the stadium, and the view from every section on the screen.
  • Sample seats. The actual chairs from each product — a bowl seat, a padded premium seat, a wide club seat and a leather loge chair.
  • The 360 room. Built by Burt Freynolds and Regadget from the architects’ renderings: put on the headset and you are in your seat, looking at the field.
