Gary Matress

Gary Matress is General Manager for Harborline Hospitality at Rockbeach, which runs food and beverage across Rockbeach's campus venues. A Toms River native, he started at fifteen at a sausage-and-peppers stand on the Seaside Heights boardwalk and never left the food business, training at the Barnegat Culinary Institute and running kitchens in Asbury Park before Harborline hired him to manage a minor league ballpark and then the Rockbeach account. His stands are where fans get The Rock, a meatball bowl with banana peppers and prosciutto, and the Taylor Ham pizza (or pork roll; he refuses to take a side) that ships in a box with a mermaid tail on it. He walks the concourses of The Beacon and Jacobsen Stadium himself on game days, and the athletics offices know him for the bag of Swedish Fish he drops off every Friday. He lives in Brick with his wife, Dana, and their twins, and smokes a brisket most fall Sundays.
